The Heard Museum

I decided that since we had a season pass to the Heard Museum, we needed to use it more.  So, one morning I told the kiddos we were going there to walk the trails again.  It was cloudy so it would be a little cooler (though more humid) so why not?!?  The kiddos were excited and we headed out.  We got there and the clouds were heavy with rain.  While it was still cooler than it had been, that doesn't say too much - it was still  pretty hot.  But the kiddos had fun and, of course I wanted to play with my camera some more.

I took about 5 pictures of them in this bench, and tried to get them to get above those little plants that are in front of Jada and Seth.  However, by the time that Jada got on her knees and Seth out of the way too, Levi was done - off to explore something else!

So I pressed my luck with the Alligator statue.  Same kind of thing. These were the best I got.

Off to explore the wild:

I told you it was pretty hot - see the sweat dripping down his cheek?  But he loved it - heat and all!  However, just a few minutes after I took this picture, we felt the first few drops of rain.  At first, I thought it would just sprinkle and pass over...

 I was wrong!

We ran back to the building when it really started raining hard.  Good thing we were covered by big trees a lot of the way - but as you can see, we still got pretty wet.  Ironically though, as soon as we got into the building, it stopped raining.  I knew we should have just waited it out.  The kiddos were really worried though about being out in the "storm".  So it was good to be back inside - it calmed everyone down - even Seth...

We enjoyed the rest of our trip exploring the new and old exhibits inside the Heard Museum.  Everyone loved it and it turned out to be a good outing despite the rain (or perhaps because of the rain - who knows).
