Road Trip to Florida

I had tried to book tickets using miles for the kiddos and I to go visit Missi and her family in Florida this summer.  I had put them on reserve, but when I went to book them, they had expired about 8 hours earlier!  So, since Papa had wanted to go down for Avalie's birthday too, I asked if he would mind us tagging along with him.  I even offered to take our van (ha ha).  Very hesitantly, he consented to our tagging along with him on this approximately 24 hour drive.  Mind you, Papa makes it by himself to Florida in 18 or so, but with the kiddos, we planned on 24.  To pleasant surprise, we made it there in just over 19 hours.  We followed my suggested plan: leave after lunch (about noon) on Friday, drive until dinner which I had packed for them, at which time we would get them in the pj's and ready for bed, then drive all night long.  We would stop for breakfast and get them changed and be at Missi's house around lunchtime on Saturday.  Our plan worked fantastic - except there was nowhere on the Florida Turnpike to stop for breakfast.  It was crazy!  They snacked and finally just had donuts at aunt Missi's when we arrived at 9am that morning (with time change of course).  Even Dad said, "that actually went pretty well."  Here are a few pics from our driving time.

I often wonder if she realizes just how beautiful she really is.  I don't think she does - and part of me hopes that she really never fully grasps it.  But I do hope some day, she has a small sense of that.

Boys will be boys, right?!?
