When we took all the cabinets out of the laundry room when we redid it, we did not want to waste them -they are great cabinets! So, we put them all in the garage. The single wall cabinet, we hung up next to the counter and cabinets we took out and put in the garage as our new workbench. It's awesome! However, before we redid our kitchen, I had taken the cabinet door off the only cabinet in the laundry room to test paint colors on it so that I could put it next to our counter tops and see if I really liked the way they looked together. Needless to say, our cabinet needed to be painted - even if it was in the garage. So, I got to work sanding it really well. I wanted to use this as a tester to see how I liked the color for our bathroom cabinets and to see if I could use this type of paint to redo our kitchen in a few years (like how I'm always trying something for something else! - confusing isn't it?!?!) Anyways, Jada wanted to help me paint. So we did. As I said before, I sanded the cabinet really, really well, then painted it with Home Depot's Behr paint with primer in it. Seems to have worked well. It looks nice actually. Jada did a fantastic job painting and enjoyed herself thoroughly! As did I - being able to spend time with just her is a precious commodity these days!
I know it's blurry, but it helps you see how we put them in the garage and used the counter as a work bench. My dad literally took our other work bench apart (saving the wood of course) and then putting the counter in it's place. It was almost the exact height, just a little longer than the other one. And there is the cabinet - still waiting for the door to be sanded and painted! It'll get there at someday!
