As we walked into the gym one morning, I told Seth to hold my hand in the parking lot. Surprisingly, he willingly complied! It shocked me actually how easily he took my hand, that I looked down at him and his hand holding mine. I looked up, then processed what I'd seen. I stopped and took a closer look at his hand.
Yes, his left hand was really red and really swollen. I thought about taking him to the doctor right then. But I decided to go into the gym, and outline the redness with a pen. I did a quick workout and then checked to see if the redness had passed the lines I'd drawn about 45 minutes ago. Unfortunately, it had. So we went to the doctor. The doctor said it could be cellulitis or an allergic reaction - or possibly both. Of course it was Friday, so he gave me a prescription for antibiotics and told me to go get children's Zyrtec over the counter to cover our bases. I filled the prescriptions but it was going to take a little bit before I it would be ready. So I started him on the Zyrtec, and it made huge improvements. I almost didn't both picking the antibiotic up. However, by that evening, is was getting more red and more puffy again. So we did give it to him. And luckily it went away without complications! Of course, I don't think it was coincidence that he willingly complied with my request to hold my hand nor that I for some reason wanted to look at him and our hands! I think we were being watched over - and I'm so grateful for that!
