Spring Break Star Blanket

The "star blanket" that I had made for Seth a couple years ago to try and make it less scary for him to sleep on the bottom bunk when he shared a room with Trey, is an old sheet that I used a star stencil and glow in the dark fabric paint to paint star all over.  It has been a favorite ever since I made it.  Well, it's been in the sheet closet for a while.  I pulled it out one day, and the kiddos ate lunch under it in the garage the rainy Monday of spring break.  The loved it and had fun, until someone pulled the blanket down which tipped a chair and spilled someone's drink...  Then, lunch in the garage was over.

Since it was out, Trey and Jada asked if they could sleep under the star blanket.  I agreed, and this is what we came up with.

Darling huh?  This was the "best day EVER!" they told me.  I giggle when they tell me that, because it is such a transient phrase (meaning one minute it's the best day ever, and an hour later, it's the worst day ever!)  and I don't put too much emphasis on it - but I sure do love the innocence in it and love that they get so much joy out of the simple things in life.  I retain my hopes that my kiddos will be the adults stopping to smell the flowers on their way walking somewhere, or that they will be the ones to stop and take in a beautiful sunset...
