In keeping with the tradition we started just a little while ago, Mommy made "Krispy Kreme" doughnuts Friday night so they could rise in the fridge the next morning. Then, Saturday morning, I started my Great-Grandmother's sour cream doughnut recipe. I got a walk in that morning too, and started frying and frosting the Krispy Kreme's a little before Conference started (at 11am) with Trent's help. Doesn't he look good in my apron?!? I don't blame him though - splashing oil from frying the doughnuts - I had another of mine on too.
And of course, our "long standing" tradition of eating on the yellow blanket continued. This time, for the very beginning of Conference, Grace was here - just to enjoy the doughnuts she "helped" me make earlier that morning. She went home after eating the fruits of her labor. Once again, the doughnuts were great. Still not so sure about the sugar high right at the beginning of conference. But, considering everything else - we will keep it!
We also made cinnamon rolls to enjoy at the beginning of Sunday's session again too, as well as hanging up the pictures of the First Presidency and Quorum of the 12 Apostles over the fireplace.
YUMMY!!! This is before baking and before the goo smothered all over them! (Thanks Lindsay Henriod for this delectable recipe. It's a family favorite.)
Look at those stuffed cheeks and mouths. And look how they are actually watching General Conference! This is why I continue to make them - though the attention span only lasts a few minutes. But... it's better than nothing, right?!?
Man I love traditions! They are so fun - for me and for the kiddos!! Happy General Conference Weekend.
