Our Garden 2013

I finally got to planting everything in the garden this year, on Monday, the 18th of March.  It was great weather and it felt so good to be outside doing work!  I had just gotten everything in - mostly seeds, but also my tomato and pepper plants.  I felt so good!  I just love having a garden - I feel so proud that we can grow our own food!  I think it is cool.  Anyways, I took one last prideful look at the garden and went in the house to get the camera to take a picture.  While in, Trey asked me for some help and I started helping him.  It took me a few minutes, and then it dawned on me that I hadn't seen or heard Seth for a few minutes.  I grabbed the camera in fright, hoping against all hope what I knew was going on.  I ran out the door and sure enough, there is Seth in his rain boots, shovel in hand stomping on and pulling up the plants and digging, throwing and shoving the dirt everywhere!!!  Oh I wanted to scream (and probably did some too)!!  This was actually something I had accomplished and now he'd destroyed that too because I didn't close the gate behind me.  I'd expected to be right back but got distracted.  I tried hard to think of this from his perspective:  a big pile of loose dirt + open gate (aka - invitation to go it) + shovel laying in the sandbox right by the garden + a few small, green plants in the open = Hay Day for a 3 year old boy!
I could see this, but it didn't make me feel much better.  Luckily the damage wasn't too bad.  We lost 1 tomato plant and nearly lost our jalepeno chili plant.  The latter managed to survive, though it is now the "runt" of our pepper plants.    The pictures do not show the damage all that well, but I had to take them.  I think the camera is becoming a little bit of  tool I use to redirect my anger and frustrations when I want to do some pretty bad things to my adorable Seth sometimes!  It helps me to remember how adorable he is and that I just cannot forget or slip up - I have to be on my A game at ALL times with him!  I guess it's a good think I realize my "camera release" technique.  Maybe it'll continue to be helpful in the future.  Right now, all I see is red - I can't see a stopping of this any time soon; though I sure am praying for it!!!

This is our "decapitated" jalepeno plant
